Statement of Goals:
This four-week clerkship in pediatric gastroenterology offers practical experiences in the clinical diagnosis, documentation, and management of pediatric patients with nutritional, gastrointestinal, and hepatic problems.
Learning Activities
The student is responsible for assisting in the clinical work up and management of patients admitted to the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition service in the pediatric ward and clinic of Texas Children's Hospital. Other experiences include observation and assistance in techniques such as intestinal endoscopies and manometry of the GI tract. The students are required to participate in teaching rounds and section conferences.
