Statement of Goals:
By the end of the rotation, the student will be able to: A) Completely examine the acutely and chronically injured ankle and knee, B) Know the basic principles of acute management of musculoskeletal injuries, C) perform the preparticipation sports evaluation, and D) develop added knowledge and skills in one specific topic of sports medicine.
Learning Activities
Students will see patients in the TCH Sports Medicine Clinice with Drs. Hergenroeder, Gomez, and Chorley, as well as in outlying Baylor Teen Health Clinic sites and training room at the high school and collegiate level. Sideline game and event coverage will be during weekend and evenings during the month. Othere topics include Sprots Nutrition (Roberts Anding), Sprots Physical Therapy (Dr. Gabriel Brooks), Exercies Physiology, Sport Psychology, and Musculoskeletal Radiology.
Evaluation Methods
Students will receive feedback at the end of the rotation. Evaluation based on the student's performanace in clinic and in the above learning experiences. They will also be required to present a 20 minute lecture on the topic of his/her choice.
