Statement of Goals:
At the end of this 4 week clinical elective, students should: - have gained further understanding of the detection and treatment of cervical, ovarian, endometrial and vulvar cancers. -be able to describe the proper evaluation of adnexal masses -understand the evaluation of post-menopausal uterine bleeding -be familiar with imaging modalities used in gyn oncology -understand the risks and benefits of radiation, chemotherapy, and surgical interventions in women with early and advanced gynecologic malignancies
Learning Activities
Students will spend the 4 weeks under the guidance of Dr. Michael Bevers in his private gynecologic oncology practice. Students will serve at an intern level with regards to inpatient and ambulatory experiences. They are expected to assist in inpatient consultation and evaluation of new referrals.
Evaluation Methods
Formal and Informal feedback will be provided to the student during the course of the month. Additionally, in-depth review of literature on a specific topic in gynecologic oncology may be requested by course faculty. A final grade will be determine based on clinical performance.
