Statement of Goals:
Special Clinical Electives by Drs. Jose Rivers and Laura Torres for students desiring a special type of elective experience at BCM or an"away" clinical rotation at another institution. Special electives must have Department Coordinator approval to certify the course as equivalent to BCM Elective course offerings and acceptable to count toward the 32 Credit Graduation Requirement. Pre-requisites for "away" rotations may vary according to the program offering the elective. "Away" rotation are generally reserved for fourth year medical students. Students must invest four weeks to receive elective credit. Monday – Friday, Clinical 6:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday – Friday, Individual academic site conferences Wednesday, Department Grand Rounds, 6:30 - 7:30 am Mondays & Wednesdays, CA I Lectures, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Learning Activities
Didactic instruction includes case discussions, lectures and monthly clinical conferences.
Evaluation Methods
An Elective Evaluation Form must be completed and returned to the Office of the Registrar in order to receive credit. Students will be evaluated by faculty, fellows and residents. This evaluation will be based upon objective and subjective criteria: attendance, fund of knowledge, attitude, and level of professional maturity.
