Statement of Goals:
Early registration is encouraged! This course tends to fill early and no changes in registration are permitted within two weeks of the start of the rotation. Students receive supervised instruction in the care of children undergoing surgery in the Texas Children's Hospital Operating Rooms, the principles of anesthetic management and the treatment of patients unconscious for any cause. This elective provides students a unique, controlled environment in which to acquire skills in airway management, venous access, patient assessment, and monitoring. Monday – Friday, Clinical 6:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday – Friday, Individual academic site conferences Wednesday, Department Grand Rounds, 6:30 - 7:30 am Mondays & Wednesdays, CA I Lectures, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Learning Activities
This advanced clinical clerkship designed primarily for, but is not limited to, students planning a career in Anesthesiology. The Clinical Skills emphasized during this rotation are important in any primary care specialty - pediatrics, internal medicine, medicine/pediatrics, emergency medicine, and family practice. All students are encouraged to consider this elective.
Evaluation Methods
Students will be evaluated by faculty, fellows, and residents. This evaluation will be based upon objective and subjective criteria: attendance, fund of knowledge, attitude, level of professional maturity. The grading system will be Honor, High Pass, Pass, Marginal Pass, Fail.

Report at 8:00 am to the Anesthesiology Office, Abercrombie Bldg., by the Red Elevators, Suite A200
