Shilpi Agrawala, M.D.

Dr. Agrawala is currently a PGY-1 who graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed her undergraduates education at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Her clinical interests include pregnancy loss, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and hormone replacement therapy.

Emily Bowden, M.D.

Dr. Bowden received a BA in biology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She worked as a research assistant in Karachi, Pakistan during her time as an MPH student looking at risk factors for HCV transmission in multiple hospital catchment areas. Her desire to pursue public health spurred her to pursue her medical degree at Texas A&M University. Her research interests include global health and infectious disease. During her free time, Dr. Bowden loves to travel, discover new restaurants, and watch UT football.

Marco Casanova, D.O.

Dr. Casanova was born and raised in Miami, Florida. His passion for soccer earned him an athletic scholarship at the University of Central Florida where he double-majored in Biology and Psychology. As a true Florida native, he later matriculated into Nova Southeastern University-COM where he would go on to become the 2017 Class President. His clinical and research interests include advancements in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, surgical product development and obstetrical complications secondary to modifiable lifestyle factors. His outside interests include following Liverpool FC, the Miami Hurricanes and Miami Marlins, along with spending time with his friends and family. He is a second-generation OB/GYN following in the footsteps of his mentor and hero, his mother.

Anisha Farishta, M.D.

Dr. Farishta was born in India and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She attended Houston Baptist University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology & Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She went on to receive her medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking/baking, and spending time with loved ones and friends.

Mona Homafar, M.D.

Dr. Homafar received her undergraduate degree in neurobiology from The University of Texas in Austin. She then attended medical school at UT Southwestern, where she was involved in efforts related to global health. Following medical school, she completed an internship in General Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine before joining the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her interests outside of work include traveling, fitness and spending time with family.

Dr. Magistrado received her undergraduate degree in Dance and Biochemistry. During her studies, She enjoyed working at Riverside Free Clinic as a smoking cessation coordinator and assistant director of the clinical care volunteer program at Riverside Community Hospital. Outside of medicine, she enjoyed teaching Zumba and group fitness classes across California. Attaining her medical degree as part of the inaugural class from the University of California Riverside, she has journeyed to Texas to grow and learn from the world's largest medical center. Her career interests include teaching and working in patient education.

Riwa Sabbagh, M.D.

Dr. Sabbagh was born in California and raised in London, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. She received her undergraduate and a medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. She then pursued two years of research at the Reproductive Endocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research focused on the genetics of GNRH deficiency. Her current interests include genetics and reproductive endocrinology. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends and family, travel, and stay active.

Alexa Sassin, M.D.

Dr. Sassin is a native Houstonian. She attended Yale University, where she studied political science. After graduating, she returned to Houston to attend Baylor College of Medicine. She developed a love of obstetrics and gynecology during her core clinical rotation, and she furthered her interest in women’s health by volunteering at community women’s health fairs and by participating in ACOG events. While in medical school, she was involved in research focusing on postoperative pain control as well as quality improvement projects. In her free time, she enjoys running half marathons, exploring Houston, and playing catch with her miniature schnauzer, Jax.

Dr. Sastry received her BA in biology from Washington University in St. Louis with a minor in music. She went on to earn her medical degree at Saint Louis University. In her free time, she enjoys painting, running, and spending time with friends and family.

Sowmya Sunkara, M.D.

Dr. Sunkara received her BA in psychology from Texas Tech University. During her undergraduate career she conducted research on neurodegenerative disorders, and after graduating she worked in a translational cancer research laboratory. She then went on to receive her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she developed a strong interest in women's health issues. In her free time, she loves baking, traveling, hiking and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Thigpen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, with a major in biology and a minor in communications. During that time, she was a Division I athlete, playing for the UF Women’s soccer team. She then received her medical degree from Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. At this time, her interests include reproductive endocrinology and infertility. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, doing crossfit, watching college football, and playing with her golden retriever, Tucker.

Dr. Williams received her undergraduate degree in physics from the University of Notre Dame. During that time, she participated in high energy physics research, trained as an applied behavior analysis therapist for children with autism, and studied abroad in London, completing a minor in European studies with a capstone in music. She then received her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going to spin class, living in a golden age of television, exploring the Houston restaurant scene, and cheering on all things Notre Dame!
