Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Our Mission:
"BCM Obstetrics and Gynecology endeavors to provide the highest quality patient-centered care, excellence in education, and innovation through research to promote the health and well-being of all women."

The specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine provide care to the high-risk pregnant woman and her unborn baby. High-risk patients are those with medical or surgical problems, previous pregnancy complications, multiple births, and other conditions that increase the need for close monitoring and assessment of the ongoing pregnancy. Prenatal diagnosis and genetic testing is offered in our department with the assistance of the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics.

This division also provides a full range of fetal care, therapy and surgery with assistance of Texas Children's Fetal Center. These services include prenatal evaluation, diagnosis, ultrasound, invasive fetal therapy and open fetal surgery. Our fetal intervention specialists provides integrated, multidisciplinary care for mothers carrying babies with genetic or anatomic birth defects requiring therapy before or immediately after birth.
