Dr. Robert Zurawin is an associate professor in the Division of Gynecology. He received his medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 1977, completed his residency at Baylor in 1984, and became a certified diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1984. He began his private practice in Houston and in 1994 joined Baylor College of Medicine as a full-time faculty. Dr. Zurawin currently serves as the fellowship director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. He has held the positions of director of the Gynecology Service at Texas Children’s Hospital from 1995-2007, medical student clerkship director, and the past-president of the Houston Gynecological and Obstetrical Society.
Dr. Zurawin’s clinical practice is in the field of gynecology. He specializes in alternative procedures to hysterectomy, which avoid major surgery. His special interest is the treatment of fibroids and endometriosis using minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery. He also treats urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and problems of the menopause. He is also a recognized national expert in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
Dr. Zurawin is a member of many professional and scientific societies such as: American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Houston Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, Texas Medical Association, and Harris County Medical Society and has numerous committee appointments, both with the national organizations and the hospitals at which he has privileges.
