Sept. 26, 2014: David D. Ginty, Ph.D.

Oct. 3, 2014: Yadong Huang, Ph.D.

McMillian Auditorium, 3 p.m. Social hour at 4 p.m., Alkek N311. Joanna Jankowsky host lab. Dr. Huang is an investigator at the Roddenberry Center for Stem Cell Biology and Medicine at Gladstone and associate professor of pathology and neurology at the University of California, San Francisco.

Jan. 16, 2015: Ellen Lumpkin, Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in McMillian, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in N317. Host lab Andrew Groves. Dr. Lumpkin is an associate professor of physiology and cellular biophysics, and also dermatology, at Columbia University.

Jan. 23, 2015: Bill Newsome, Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in McMillian auditorium, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in N317. Host labs are Xaq Pitkow and Andreas Tolias. Dr. Newsome is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. He is also professor of neurobiology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Murphy Professor of Psychiatry and Deputy Chair for Basic Science Research, Dept. of Psychiatry at Yale University. She will present “Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors: distinct roles in feeding behavior and corticothalamic neuronal development”

March 13, 2015: David Redish, Ph.D.

March 20, 2015: Harel Shouval, Ph.D.

Dr. Byrne is the June and Virgil Waggoner Chair and Chairman, Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. His lecture is titled: “The Right Time to Learn: Mechanisms and Optimization of Spaced Learning”

May 15, 2015: Brian Roth, M.D., Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in M112, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in Alkek 311. Host lab Russell Ray and the MBRC. Dr. Roth is Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, and the Michael Hooker Chair of Protein Therapeutics and Translational Proteomics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

May 8, 2015: Vittorio Gallo, Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in M112, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in Alkek 311. Host lab Huda Zoghbi. Dr. Gallo is the Director, Center for Neuroscience Research and Wolf-Pack Chair in Neuroscience at George Washington University School of Medicine.

May 1, 2015: Leslie Valiant, Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in M112, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in Alkek 311. Host lab Xaq Pitkow. Dr. Valiant is the T. Jefferson Coolidge Professor of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

April 10, 2014: Craig Powell, M.D., Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in McMillian Auditorium, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in Alkek 311. Host lab Mauro Costa-Mattioli and MBRC. Dr Powell is Associate Professor and holds the Ed and Sue Rose Distinguished Professorship in Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

March 27, 2015: Ken Miller, Ph.D.

3 p.m. seminar in Cullen 301A and Kleburg, followed by 4 p.m. social hour in Alkek 311. Host lab Russell Ray. Dr. Miller is an American cell biologist and molecular biologist who is currently Professor of Biology and Royce Family Professor for Teaching Excellence at Brown University. Dr. Miller, who is Roman Catholic, is particularly known for his opposition to creationism, including the intelligent design (ID) movement.
