The clinical fellowship is awarded to a fully trained board-eligible individual following the completion of a ACGME approved Neurology residency. The clinical fellowship is certified by the Texas Medical Board. The position is designed for individuals interested in specializing in MS and related neuroimmunological diseases within a strong academic setting and healthcare emphasis.
Multiple sclerosis and Neuroimmunology care at Baylor College of Medicine is mainly focused at three outpatient clinical sites, and includes five full time faculty. We have access to several large hospital facilities as well, in case of need for inpatient evaluation or treatment. Our main outpatient facility is the Maxine Mesinger Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center. The fellow will also participate in clinics at Harris Health and at Texas Children’s Hospital. The fellow is exposed to expert multidisciplinary care on a regular basis in our MS Center. Fellows have an opportunity to work with neurologists, as well as experts in neuroradiology, neuro-ophthalmology, physiatry, and neuro-urology.
We have a large population of patients with multiple sclerosis, and manage neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, MOG-antibody associated disease, neurosarcoidosis, autoimmune encephalitis, and other neuroimmunologic disorders.
Fellows participate in ongoing clinical trials and have protected time to develop a clinical research topic, using our large population of patients. The fellow will participate in regular conferences and lectures, increasingly assuming the role of educator. We also encourage our fellows to participate in national meetings including AAN, ACTRIMS, CMSC and MASTER MS program.
