Major W. Bradshaw, M.D

Interim Founding Dean
University of Botswana

Research Interests

Dr. Bradshaw has devoted himself to being a clinician-educator. He has maintained a full-time practice in clinical infectious diseases but early on in his career, he lost interest in research. In his second year on the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine, he was put in charge of a large course of the basic sciences, pathophysiology. In 1976, Dr. Bradshaw became associate dean and for twenty years was in charge of the Office of Student Affairs. In January of 1996, he became dean of Education and served until June 2006.

Dr. Bradshaw has currently accepted the position of interim founding dean of the University of Botswana School of Medicine.

In terms of specific interests within the area of infectious disease, he consider himself a generalist but for a long time he had had a particular interest in parasitology and obviously because of the nature of his practice he has acquired a certain expertise in dealing with infections related to cardiovascular surgery
