Postdoctoral Studies - Other Training Opportunities

In addition to standard training programs leading to the Ph.D. degree and for Ph.D. postdoctoral, several other opportunities are available through the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology.

The Clinical Scientist Training Program (CSTP)

Provides multidisciplinary didactic training for clinical researchers. The aim of the CSTP is to promote the education and training of highly motivated students to become successful, independent clinical investigators and future leaders in academic medicine and biomedical research. The M.S. and Ph.D. programs offered by the CSTP are targeted to individuals with an M.D. degree who are pursuing postgraduate training in any area of basic or clinical science. Individuals with M.D. or other health care related degrees also have the option to participate and earn the Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Clinical Investigation.

M.D.s and Training Grants:

Individuals with M.D. degrees may also apply to do basic research with a mentor who is a participating faculty member on one of the Training Grants administered through the Department. These opportunities may be linked to other clinical training opportunities. The training grants provide a means of support.
