Research Interests

Tiannan Wang's research interests are focused on intracellular calcium handling in heart disease by using calcium imaging. Since SR calcium homeostasis plays a central role in the EC coupling of cardiomyocytes, she is interested in how the underlying mechanism of calcium regulation in atrial fibrillation contributes to cardiomyopathy. She is deeply attracted by the fancy calcium imaging and colorful life of intracellular calcium since her Ph.D study. During her time in the Wehrens’ lab, she hopes to further broaden her interests in the kinetics of calcium imaging in order to help finding the potential therapy of cardiovascular disease.
