Information for Medical Genetics Training Applicants

The Medical Genetics Residency Program is accredited by the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We are currently approved for a total of 12 residents.

BCM Medical Genetics Residents

Current Residents for 2013

Five-year Combined Pediatrics/Medical Genetics Residency:

Applicants who are seniors at allopathic medical schools in the United States must use the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) for entry and submit applications through AAMC Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). ERAS usually opens in July and the following documents are required:

  • ERAS CV
  • Three letters of reference
  • Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
  • Personal statement
  • Official medical school transcript
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores

Applications are accepted beginning in August and interviews are conducted November - January. We generally do NOT accept international medical graduates into this pathway unless the applicant either has done electives in the US as a medical student or has extensive research experience.

Two-year Medical Genetics Residency:

Applicants to this program are also required to use NRMP for entry and submit applications through ERAS. ERAS usually opens in July and the following documents are required:

  • ERAS CV
  • Three letters of reference (one should be from your current residency program director)
  • Personal statement
  • Official medical school transcript
  • USMLE scores

Interviews are conducted September - November and the match date is typically late November or early December for a start date of July 1.
