One-Year Fellowship Program in Medical Biochemical Genetics

Medical Biochemical Genetics is a newly-approved training pathway that is accredited by the ACGME RRC for medical genetics. This one year training program is meant to provide additional training in the diagnosis and management of inborn errors of metabolism. Board-certification is available through the ABMGG. Currently, Medical Biochemical Genetics does not use the NRMP for those applying for the fellowship. Most individuals apply to the program 12-18 months before the anticipated start date. Interviews are granted based upon review of the application package and there is no set time frame for interviews.

How to Apply

Fellowship candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Medical Genetics or have completed a Medical Genetics combined residency program recognized by the ABMGG to be eligible for the fellowship. In addition, it is required that applicants are able to successfully obtain a physician licensure from the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. Fellows may need to apply for a physician-in-training permit if they are not eligible for physician licensure by the commencement of training. This program does not participate in the NRMP.
