IQuESt’s Diversity and Inclusion commitment perfectly aligns with both Baylor College of Medicine and the Department of Veterans Affairs. We believe that diversity cultivates innovation, leadership and strength. Our work reflects our values through our interactions with one another and through our research grant portfolio, which strives to understand health care concerns of underserved minorities.
IQuESt is dedicated to growing a diverse workforce and cultivate an inclusive work environment in which employees and staff are fully engaged and committed to improving the health and well-being of all individuals through scientific innovations in health care delivery.
Periodically, IQuESt conducts an internal, anonymous diversity survey to collect and update diversity data and concerns. The latest survey was completed in 2020.
Annual diversity and inclusion training is incorporated into IQuESt’s educational activities, through both Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) - South Central MIRECC
In partnership with the South Central Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center and the VA HSR&D COIN Center for Mental Health and Outcomes Research (CeMHOR), we have a DEI Committee made up of staff, administrators and investigators from the three centers. Four IQuESt representatives are members of the 2021-2022 committee roster (Dr. Joshua Hamer, Dr. Sylvia Hysong, Dr. Derrecka Boykin and Dr. Traber Giardina.)
