General Internal Medicine

About Us

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is comprised of more than 60 faculty members practicing primarily at four clinical locations, which include Quentin Mease Hospital, Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, and Baylor Clinic. As one of the largest sections in the Department of Medicine, we provide a significant service to the College through training medical students, residents, fellows and other graduate students.

The Section of General Internal Medicine is recognized nationally and internationally for its successful educational programs, innovative patient care, and clinical research. Research activities in area of general internal medicine also occur in the closely affiliated Section of Health Services Research in the Department of Medicine and the Research Division of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Research education includes federally funded primary care research fellowships.

Environmental Health Service

One of the section’s newest specialty areas, the Environmental Health Service, has active education, patient care, research and outreach programs. See information about the EHS.
