The didactic curriculum is as follows:
Core Curriculum Conference
Held at MD Anderson Cancer Center every Monday at 8 a.m., this conference provides a comprehensive review of 55 core endocrine topics over two years.
Clinical Case Conference
Held at the VA Medical Center every Tuesday at 8 a.m., this conference provides a venue for fellow case presentations and detailed, interactive case based discussion of endocrine disorders.
Evidence-based Endocrine Practice Conference
Held at noon prior to the Fellows’ Continuity Clinic at Ben Taub Hospital, this conference provides training in critical appraisal of the Endocrine literature.
This monthly session is devoted to reviewing pituitary/hypothalamic imaging with the neuroradiologists.
Thyroid Cytopathology Conference
This bimonthly conference is held jointly with the cytopathology department to review thyroid nodule fine needle aspirates and surgical pathology.
Endocrine Surgery Conference
This bimonthly conference is held jointly with endocrine surgeons to review outcomes in patients who have undergone thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and other endocrine surgery.
Endocrinology Grand Rounds
Scheduled at Baylor every Thursday at 5:30 p.m., this is a combined conference held in conjunction with the endocrine division of The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and pediatric endocrine at Texas Children's Hospital. It is attended by a large number of adult and pediatric endocrinologists. The format includes lectures on basic and clinical endocrinology by visiting speakers.
This conference is held weekly at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Attending physicians from the head and neck surgical service, the neurological service and radiology service join members of the endocrine service to review mutual patients comprehensively.
Held one Saturday morning each fall, faculty present their research programs and training opportunities to all fellows in a half-day seminar in preparation for choosing a research mentor and transitioning to the second year of fellowship.
