Dr. Rajan received his medical doctorate (M.B.B.S.) from St. John’s Medical College in India in 1984. Upon completing his internship he joined Baylor College of Medicine for post-doctoral research training and was appointed to the faculty in 1989, and is presently Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism. He has conducted independent laboratory-based research in diabetes and been a recipient of several research grant awards. He teaches in the medical, graduate and allied health schools and has been recognized for his teaching excellence through institutional teaching awards and invited membership to the Academy of Distinguished Educators.
Arun Rajan is the Associate Chair for Administration in the Department of Medicine, with a dual role in executive administration and academics. With over 10 years experience in healthcare administration, he serves as the department’s chief administrator overseeing all business operations and financial management of the department’s clinical, research, educational and service missions. His credentials include an M.B.A. (1994) and M.H.A. (2009) earned from the University of Houston and his areas of administrative interest include quality and globalization in healthcare.
