Division of Cardiovascular Sciences
The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences conducts basic science research and is devoted to the study of cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with cardiovascular function and mechanism of cardiovascular injury. In addition to pursuing their individual research interests, faculty are responsible for the operation of the DeBakey Heart Center Research Cores that develop and analyze models of cardiovascular disease in various species. Research funding of the division comes from both individual and multi-investigator grants from National Institutes of Health, private foundations, and pharmaceutical companies.
The division is also responsible for the DeBakey Heart Center Cardiovascular Ph.D. Track within the Molecular Physiology Graduate Program, which involves faculty from organizations throughout Baylor.
