The Section of Cardiology provides comprehensive care in interventional cardiology, heart failure and cardiac transplantation, electrophysiology, preventive cardiology and general cardiology in three affiliated hospitals: St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital/Texas Heart Institute, Ben Taub General Hospital, and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, as well as in a new state-of-the-art outpatient facility. Ongoing research efforts in basic science, translational research and clinical trials/outcomes research are focused on developing novel therapeutic strategies that will lead to advances in the treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.
