Faculty Department Fellowship

The department offers a one-year faculty development fellowship. The overall goal of the fellowship is to enhance our faculty's academic skills to be highly productive and successful, so that they can serve as high-quality role models for students considering careers as generalist physicians and those who have chosen careers as family physicians. The fellowship is designed to improve academic and research skills in the areas of cultural diversity, evidenced-based medicine, leadership, medical informatics, professional writing, research and teaching. Fellows are given 10% release time from their usual duties to participate in the fellowship. One of the criteria for selecting fellows is that they want to become academic leaders at their work site. It is expected that after participating in the fellowship that fellows will work with other faculty at their work site on educational and scholarly pursuits.

Applications for the fellowship are during the spring of each year. The fellowship runs from July 1 to June 30 of each year. The fellowship is sponsored by grant No: 1 D14 HP 00184 from the Bureau of Health Professions of the Health Resources and Services Administration and departmental resources.
