Off-Service Rotator Scheduling Policies and Procedures

Content

The EM program uses the scheduling software ShiftAdmin. You will receive an email to solicit your schedule requests for the block approximately 8-12 weeks prior to your rotation start date. In general, you will receive your schedule 2-4 weeks prior to the start of the rotation.

Once the schedule has been published, the off-service resident is responsible for making these changes by trading shifts via ShiftAdmin and these changes cannot be guaranteed. The ED will protect and honor vacation requests that were approved by the program director. Of note, a single day-off is considered to be 24 hours of continuous unscheduled time. Days off and vacations are calculated by the beginning and ends of scheduled hours. While not common, a day off or vacation may start after an overnight shift.
