Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you will have an enjoyable day tomorrow filled with great food and a plan for celebrating safely with family and friends.
I am grateful each day to be a part of Baylor College of Medicine. We seem to have it all – talented, innovative and collaborative faculty, staff always willing to go the extra mile and trainees who make the most of the excellent education and training they receive here. In addition, Baylor is one of the most community-minded places I have ever been. We really are fortunate. I know I feel privileged every day to lead this institution.
This past year, once again, COVID-19 played a major role in our lives, but we took on the challenges and led the way with many research protocols on the virus, assistance to the city, county and school districts and putting our patients’ needs first with an efficient way of taking care of them through telehealth and in-patient appointments. Without a doubt, our institution has been a leader in helping to get us out of the pandemic.
In this week’s video, along with reviewing the international, national and local COVID numbers, we also go on a field trip – to the labs of Dr. Joe Petrosino and Dr. Anthony Maresso. From them you will learn the incredible work we are doing with “good viruses” to treat those who have not had success with other treatments. It’s fascinating work!
Lily is excited about Thanksgiving, too. Especially after she got into a little trouble earlier in the week. It all turned out just fine.
Be safe. Have a great holiday!
