Sept. 24, 2021
Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
The theme for this week’s video is variants. I include some updates on COVID-19 vaccines and boosters and go over all the international, national and local data, but I cover the many variants in depth.
The current status in the U.S. is it appears we have plateaued but at a high number of cases. Vaccinations are not where they need to be. The reality is that we are just not doing that well.
It is time for something new. More people have died of COVID-19 in the United States than are estimated to have died of influenza during the 1918 pandemic. Over 675,000 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in our nation. The economy is impacted in many ways, so are health care systems and health care workers. It’s time.
So today I present Lily’s 5-point plan to end the pandemic by March of next year. Let me know what you think.
Have a great weekend. Stay safe.
