Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
Great news this week - the J & J vaccine was approved. Now, we have three effective vaccines in the fight against COVID.
In this week’s video, I go over the J & J data and the vaccine’s advantages, including that it is one dose and easily stored. The other big thing in the past week was the state’s decision to remove a mask mandate and relax business restrictions. Texans were encouraged to continue to wear masks.
At Baylor, we will continue to require masks and will still practice physical distancing and frequent hand-washing. It is very important that we do not drop the ball with the goal line in sight. We have come so far and we are very close to winning this battle. I am confident that all members of the Baylor College of Medicine community, as well as the Houston-area community, will continue to follow public health guidelines.
Finally, you may have heard that Dr. Peter Hotez, internationally recognized expert in infectious diseases, had a sandwich named after him. I must say Lily was a little jealous. We will show you her response.
Have a great weekend. Stay safe.
