Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
It has been another interesting week in the world of COVID-19 as we continue to learn more about the virus and what works in fighting it. In this week’s video, I give updates on the latest research and talk about the national, state and local numbers. The national data is not good, particularly in the Midwest. In Texas, El Paso is having a very tough time, with a huge spike in cases. Houston is doing OK, but not great. Our R factor is above 1, which means the virus is still winning.
There is also a very interesting study that shows the correlation between the number of people who know someone with COVID symptoms and the percentage of people wearing masks in public all or most of the time. And, in a study that could be very important, another target for therapy has been identified. All this and more in today’s video, including Lily in her Halloween costume.
Be safe, wear your mask and remember to vote.
