Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
It has been an interesting week, both in our area and the nation. This week’s video discusses the numbers in the Texas Medical Center, the lack of contact tracing for some events in Washington, D.C., and new CDC info on how coronavirus spreads through the air. This is something the scientific and medical community have thought for some time. I also go through a very interesting research article in Nature about a major genetic risk factor for severe COVID-19 being inherited from Neanderthals. Fascinating!
This is diversity week, but I believe Baylor celebrates diversity every day. Included in today’s video is a diversity message from many members of our community. I hope you will watch it. The various viewpoints we have and journeys we have had to bring us here are what makes us stronger. I am so proud that we have an institution that celebrates our differences.
Stay safe and remember, “Don’t be a Neanderthal, wear a mask!”
