Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
Two weeks ago we implemented a work from home strategy in order to reduce the number of people on our main campus. This was a significant and necessary move to create the social distancing we need to stay within our capacity to care for those with COVID-19.
All of the Stay Home, Work Safe efforts – ours at Baylor and across the city and county are to ensure we don’t end up with a coronavirus surge we cannot handle. Even in the world’s largest medical center, that scenario is possible.
We have made work spaces in our homes and become accustomed to the need for patience and politeness on zoom calls.
As members of an academic medical institution, we understand the role we all play in keeping ourselves – and others – safe. I hope that all of you carry this message to your friends, neighbors and family members because it only works if most people join in.
You might also check the Unacast COVID-19 Location Data Toolkit, which is helpful in understanding social distancing initiatives.
My daughter-in-law is a middle school teacher in North Carolina and she shared with me a video she put together with her dog, Snoopy, to send to her students to make a few key points about caring for yourself at home.
I’m sharing it with you because it makes good points and who doesn’t love a cute dog video.
Stay the course. Take care of yourselves. Take care of business. Be safe.
