Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
In this week’s video message, I talk about the large increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations we are seeing in Houston and the surrounding counties and how our hospitals can mange the increase in admissions. The TMC graph on growth of cases in our area shows the average daily cases over a one week period increasing from 200 to 400 to 900, which is very concerning.
As you know, today Governor Abbott paused the state's reopening plan to help stem the spread of COVID-19 including ordering all bars to close and restaurants to scale back capacity to 50%. This was a good decision by the Governor.
We need to do our part to bend the curve by remembering to practice social distancing, wearing masks and frequently washing hands both at work and home to protect yourself as well as your colleagues, family and friends.
To close out this week’s message, I included a video that I received from a member of the Baylor community last week of her dog watching my weekly update. Thanks to all who share videos and photos with me.
Thank you for all that you are doing for Baylor and the community.
