Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
In this week’s video message, the focus is on our students and affiliated hospitals. I am very happy to announce that our medical school and school of health professions students returned to their clinical rotations at our affiliated hospitals. I greatly appreciate the leaders of our outstanding hospitals welcoming our students back into these important training rotations. I am also including a terrific approach to the Physician Pledge from this year’s Virtual Commencement and some personal thoughts on the beauty of spring. For those of you do not follow me on Twitter (@DrPaulKlotman) I’m including some photographs I have tweeted.
On a more serious note, I want to address the death this week of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Like many of you, I was deeply saddened at this tragedy that also has a Houston connection. These events serve as a reminder of why we place such high importance on respect and integrity at Baylor. Should anyone need support or someone to talk to during this time, I encourage you to contact our various resources listed below.
- Faculty and staff: Visit the Human Resources Employee Assistance Program or call (713) 500-3008 or, outside Houston, 1-866-893-3776.
- Students in all of our schools: Visit WellConnect or call (866) 640-4777, available 24/7.
- Student and House Staff Mental Health Service: Call (713) 798-4881.
- Any member of the BCM Community: Call (866) 342-6892.
Thank you for all that you do for Baylor College of Medicine.
