Directions to Orientation and Parking Information

Your first day with Baylor College of Medicine will begin with New Employee Orientation in the O'Quinn Medical Tower located at:

Access the O'Quinn Medical Tower Parking Garage from Fannin Street, not from Main Street. Drive just passed the O’Quinn building and turn right into the garage that is attached. Turn into the Self-Parking entrance, which is to the left of the O’Quinn Medical Tower valet lane. Please park on any floor and take the elevator down to the Ground level or First Floor. Once you’re on the ground level, take a right and proceed down the hallway to the group of elevators for Floors 12-20. Take the elevator to the 18th floor.

Orientation Expectations

Information for all non-U.S. citizens (permanent residents/green card holders, pending immigrants, and non-immigrant visa-holders) can be found by contacting the International Services Office. If you are a non-U.S. citizen, please contact the International Services Office before your start date to verify immigration status, and to schedule an appointment for check-in.

Non-paids, with the exclusion of Non-U.S. Citizens, do not report to Human Resources first but instead should contact his or her direct supervisor for more information regarding their orientation process.

On some orientation days you might be required to take part in a self-guided orientation where you will be required to travel to different departments and buildings. Some orientation days will not require you to travel to different buildings and you will be able to complete your entire new employee processing in the O'Quinn Medical Tower. Please check your e-mail for information regarding the type of orientation you will attend.

Be prepared to spend up to three hours processing your new employee paperwork and checking in with various departments. Baylor College of Medicine provides free shuttle service if you have to travel between Baylor College of Medicine buildings.

When you attend orientation, here is what you can expect:

Step 1: New Employee Check-In

  • Please remember to complete an Electronic I-9 Form prior to your first day of employment. For instructions, please visit the Before You Arrive page.
  • Present employment-authorizing identification and submit Dependent Eligibility Verification Form.
  • If your orientation is self-guided, you will be provided with all necessary materials for you to continue your self-guided orientation.

Step 2: Meet with the Baylor Clinic/Occupational Health Program

  • All Baylor College of Medicine employees are required to visit with OHP. This visit will include placement of a New Employee Evaluation and a TB Skin Test.
  • You will need to present your vaccination records.
  • If you are self-guided, you will need to take the shuttle or drive (you will need to pay for parking) to:

Step 3: Receive your Photo ID Badge

  • You will be required to have an official Baylor College of Medicine photo identification badge to access buildings.
  • You will need to present a photo ID to receive your badge.
  • If you are self-guided, you will need to take the shuttle or drive (you will need to pay for parking) to:

Step 4: Visit with Parking and Commuter Services

  • If necessary, you will need to set up a parking account. You will need to be in a salaried full-time position to be eligible for a parking plan.
  • If you are self-guided, you will visit the parking office, which is located in the John P. McGovern Building in Suite OW100.

Step 5: Online Trainings

As part of your onboarding steps, you will be required to complete a series of online training courses.  These courses should be completed within the first 10 days of employment.  We are able to provide you with an opportunity to begin these sessions in advance of your first day of work.  You are not obligated to complete them prior to your first day.

What to Wear

New Employee Orientation is considered paid work time, therefore please dress as you would for a day at work. Business casual attire or work clothes, such as scrubs, are deemed appropriate. Please contact your supervisor for any further instructions.
