Hereditary GI/Colorectal Cancer Panel
Test Information: The Hereditary GI/Colorectal Cancer Panel uses next-generation sequencing and deletion/duplication analysis to simultaneously analyze selected genes associated with an increased risk for GI and colorectal cancers. Approximately 20 to 25% of colorectal cancers are hereditary in nature. In general, the test is used when a patient's medical history and family history findings strongly suggest that there is an underlying genetic etiology of GI/colorectal cancer.

Genes included in this panel: APC, BMPR1A, BRCA1, BRCA2, CDH1, CDKN2A, CHEK2, EPCAM, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, MUTYH, PMS1, PMS2, PTEN, SMAD4, STK11, TP53
Test Details
Test Code: 9180
Special Notes: The panel includes exon by exon sequencing, indels and gross copy number analyses of 18 genes that associated with an increased risk of GI/colorectal cancer.
Certain exons with no known gross deletion/duplication mutations may not be covered by deletion/duplication analysis.
A High Risk Hereditary Colorectal Cancer Panel (#9145) is also available, which has a shorter turn-around-time and includes 11 genes associated with colorectal cancer.

BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene sequencing and deletion/duplication analysis are performed via next generation sequencing by Counsyl.
