Coselli and Morris honored by Marfan Foundation
Dr. Joseph Coselli, professor and vice chair of cardiothoracic surgery, and Dr. Shaine Morris, assistant professor of pediatrics - cardiology at Baylor and Texas Children's Hospital, received the Leader of Distinction Award from the Marfan Foundation at its 35th annual conference, held in Houston last month. In addition, Alan Stolz and Dr. Irina Volguina of the Department of Surgery both earned the foundation's Heart of the Matter Award.
Anesthesiologists designated as fellows
Dr. Jaime Ortiz, associate professor, Dr. Rahel Selassie, assistant professor, and Dr. Connie Tran, associate professor, all in the Department of Anesthesiology, recently have received the designation of Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. This designation identifies and promotes those society members exhibiting the highest standard in professionalism and leadership, advocacy for the profession and patient safety, and education.
Baylor faculty contribute to cancer initiative planning
Drs. Sharon Plon, Donald W. (Will) Parsons, Michael Scheurer and Philip Lupo, of Baylor and Texas Children's Cancer Center, were invited to participate in the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative symposium at the National Cancer Institute July 29-31, along with other scientific stakeholders and leaders. This symposium was the scientific planning session for the proposed initiative, announced during the State of the Union address in February, to spend $500 million on childhood cancer research over the next 10 years, including efforts to collect, analyze and share data to make it easier for researchers and oncology care teams to learn from every child, adolescent and young adult with cancer.

Sept. 6: Book and author dinner with Dr. Peter Hotez
Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library hosts its annual book and author fundraiser Friday, Sept. 6, in the Fayez Sarofim Research Building, 1825 Pressler St. Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor and author of "Vaccines Did Not Cause Rachel's Autism: My Journey as a Vaccine Scientist, Pediatrician and Autism Dad," is the guest speaker, with State Rep. Office of Research updates
Dr. Mary Dickinson, professor of molecular physiology and biophysics and molecular and human genetics, has been named vice president and dean of research, effective Sept. 13. The associate dean of research for two years, she will succeed Dr. Adam Kuspa, dean of research since 2010. Kuspa, who joined the faculty as an assistant professor of biochemistry in 1993, has accepted the position of president of the Welch Foundation, one of the nation's largest private funding sources for basic chemical research. Shawn Davis will continue to lead commercialization operations as vice president and deputy chief ventures officer.

SuccessFactors, the new application for the College's human resources functions, including time management and employee self-service updates, and part of the broader Mosaic project, is now available. Here are some helpful resources:
-The SuccessFactors login, training resources, multi-factor authentication (MFA) security information and other helpful resources for employees can be found on the Mosaic HR website.
-Department sponsors are your first point of contact for help. They are a liaison with the Mosaic HR project team and are equipped with key information and tools.
