Alumni Director Named
Alex Hopkins, former director of the University of Missouri Medical School Foundation and manager of alumni affairs, has been named Director of Alumni Affairs at Baylor College of Medicine.
“We are pleased to welcome Alex to Baylor after a national search to fill this crucial position,” said Kristi Cooper, vice president for development and alumni affairs. “Alumni are an important part of our clinical strategy for the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.
“We are actively recruiting faculty and voluntary faculty and encourage alumni applications. Alex will be instrumental in developing an improved network to keep alumni connected with their peers and to manage their patient referrals.”
For the past six years, Hopkins has worked with medical alumni in both alumni affairs and the Medical School Foundation at the University of Missouri Medical School. He has coordinated alumni communications and activities including reunions, conferences and meetings. Participation in the physician alumni weekend has doubled during his leadership and attendance at the annual alumni awards event has grown to 150 from 20.
“I am excited to be joining such a highly respected and world renowned health sciences university,” he said. “As the new alumni director I want to focus on getting alumni engaged with their alma mater. Engaging alumni is more than just attending events, it involves outreach and communication. I want to be a resource to help support and maintain lasting relationships between the alumni and Baylor College of Medicine.”
Hopkins received his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and Masters in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Missouri. He is a volunteer committee member for the Mizzou Alumni Association on its diversity committee and is a past member of the rules committee.
