The Texas Ethics Consortium is an informal group of ethicists across Texas who meet regularly to ask questions, share information, and develop relationships with colleagues across institutions.

The TEC was born out of the COVID-19 crisis, where hospitals were tasked with creating guidelines for providing care for patients while there were growing shortages in hospital beds, PPE, and others. This group provided a forum to work through ethical questions and share resources to help navigate the unprecedented pandemic.

It has since expanded beyond the acute need for COVID-19 discussion, and has become a venue for conversations about ethical issues faced in different institutions, as well as camaraderie and networking.
