The Office of Outreach and Health Disparities offers a variety of compelling educational resources to promote awareness of the importance of cancer screening, prevention, and treatment. We offer free online tools to help audiences learn about cancer-detection tests and learn how to calculate their personal risks for cancer. The OOHD works to help host community plays and monologues to raise awareness about cancer prevention. We also provide a free online decision aid that assists women in making informed decision about treatment options for breast cancer.

The OOHD at the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine’s Department of Family and Community Medicine was awarded a three-year, $2.5 million, prevention grant from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas.

This collaborative, known as the Community Network for Cancer Prevention, was established for the purpose of improving HPV, breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screening services and referral and follow-up processes for medically underserved Harris County residents with abnormal colorectal and cervical cancer screening tests. CNCP’s primary goal is to raise awareness about colorectal and cervical cancer prevention.
