Images and Photos

Content

Images and photos should be used to add context, meaning or otherwise support the page text. Images help to tell our story.

  • We use photographs shot by our internal staff, photos purchased by iStock, images from various sources accompanied with written permission, and realistic scientific/medical drawings created by internal sources or produced with prior written permission.
  • We do not use illustrated images or illustration services (clip art or cartoon-like images or icons outside our approved look and feel).
  • Avoid the use of photo-collages, composited images, typography or graphic design treatments.
  • Images must be original, free of copyright or have been granted permission for use, or purchased through an image broker. Finding an image via a search engine result (such as Google Images) does not mean you have permission to use it.

When sharing content online, be sure to follow copyright law and fair use laws.

Captions

Content

Captions should be kept short, describing the image. For example: When identifying people, in a group use Shown, from left, xxxx or between people, use Dr. x, right, and Dr. x. There is no need to say left.

User tip: Various content types across ONEWeb have different limits on the number of characters allowed in accompanying captions. Keep captions to 131 characters (including spaces) or less to fit space.
