Women of Excellence & Allies of Women of Excellence Awards

Content

The Women of Excellence Award was established in 2018 to honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues that affect women at Baylor College of Medicine or in the larger community and who exemplify Baylor values. The purpose of the Allies of Women of Excellence, established in 2019, is to recognize individuals who work side by side to empower women in reaching their full professional potential. The committee recognizes that members of the College leadership have formal roles related to promoting and advancing women.

Nominations are open to anyone in the Baylor community. Nominees may represent any areas, or role from staff members who keep the College running to world-renowned researchers finding answers to diseases, to clinicians keeping our community healthy, to student, trainee and postdoctoral role models. Content

Any member of the Baylor community may nominate a Baylor community member (faculty, staff, trainee or student) who has been an employee or trainee for at least a year for a Women of Excellence or Allies of Women of Excellence Award by submitting (1) a completed nomination form (download), (2) a letter of support (maximum of two pages), and (3) resume, CV, or two-page biosketch (NIH or NSF format) for the nominee to the Office of Institutional Diversity, Inclusion and Equity at institutionaldiversity@bcm.edu.

NOTE: A Baylor College of Medicine community member who has received a Women of Excellence Award or Allies of Women of Excellence Award is not eligible for consideration again until three additional years of service at Baylor have been completed.

Let our Baylor values guide you in your nomination. Letters of support should be addressed to the Women of Excellence/Allies of Women of Excellence Award Selection Committee, and should bring attention to how the nominee meets the eligibility criteria. Effective letters will describe the scope and quality of a nominee’s contributions, the impacts and/or significance of those contributions, relevance of the contributions to addressing issues that affect women at Baylor College of Medicine or in the larger community and/or empowering women at Baylor in reaching their full professional potential.

The Women of Excellence/Allies of Women of Excellence Award Selection Committee reviews all complete nominations and identifies each year’s recipients.
