Diversity and Inclusion Week is an annual celebration of diversity, inclusion and equity at Baylor. The week features exhibits, speakers, interactive activities, service projects and other activities. Baylor will celebrate National Diversity and Inclusion Week 2021 with a particular focus on immigration.

At Baylor College of Medicine, one of our greatest strengths is our diversity, which comes in many forms including different ideas based on our backgrounds and life experiences. We are stronger because of that diversity. We recognize it and celebrate it throughout the year.

National Diversity and Inclusion Week (October 4 – 8)

At Baylor College of Medicine, one of our greatest strengths is our diversity, which comes in many forms including different ideas based on our backgrounds and life experiences. We are stronger because of that diversity. We recognize it and celebrate it throughout the year.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 5: Second Annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Showcase. This showcase acts as a forum to provide selected academic departments/centers, programs, trainee groups/organizations, and student group/organizations the opportunity to highlight their programs, efforts, and activities advancing diversity, equity and inclusion at Baylor College of Medicine. Submit a proposal  (deadline Sept. 23) to highlight your Baylor group, program, department, center or office for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Showcase, Oct. 5, 5 – 6:30 p.m. Register to attend the showcase virtually.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 6: The Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) Chapter at Baylor will host, Dr. Linda Chaudron M.D., MS, Past Chair, of the Association of American Medical College's GWIMS.  Dr. Chaudron, Vice President and RG Bing-You Chair for Medical Education, Maine Medical Center, will present, "Leading, Learning and Living: Lessons Learned in Juggling Career Paths and Life's Realities" from noon – 1 p.m. via Zoom. Register for the presentation.

Tuesday, Oct. 12: Baylor will provide Safe Zone Workshop, from 5 - 6:30 p.m., as part of the ongoing College-wide efforts to create more inclusive environments for Baylor learners and employees. This training will educate about issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals. Register for the workshop.

OUTList Directory: The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion worked to create the OUTList, an online directory and database for BCM LGBTQ+ students, staff, faculty, residents and postdocs. The directory will help promote engagement, networking and awareness. We invite Baylor staff, faculty, and trainees who identify as LGBTQ+ to join this directory.

Baylor COATS Community Service Opportunity
Baylor COATS (Community Outreach, Action, Training and Service) for Excellence and Equity is an institutional initiative comprised of Baylor faculty, staff, trainees and students who are committed to advancing our diversity, inclusion and equity goals.

In observance of National Diversity and Inclusion Week, we are inviting the Baylor community to donate school supplies to Baylor's magnet middle schools Ryan and Rusk via Amazon wish lists.
