National DNA Day is a unique event where students, teachers and the public can learn more about genetics and genomics! It was created to commemorate the completion of the Human Genome Project in April 2003, and the discovery of DNA's double helix.
The Office of Diversity and Community Outreach was approved for a grant that allowed Baylor College of Medicine, for the first time, to participate as a host site for this event sponsored by the National Human Genome Research Institute, in cooperation with the American Society of Human Genetics, Genetic Alliance, International Society of Nurses in Genetics, and the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
