Awards and Honor Wall Highlight Alumni Reunion 2010
Alumni Honor Wall updated for Reunion Weekend Close to 400 alumni and family members at Alumni Reunion 2010 acknowledged the accomplishments of colleagues in three new award categories during the Gala Luncheon on April 17. Dr. Sean McGuire,'04, the first Caroline Wiess Law Scholar at BCM, received the Young Alumni Award. Humanitarian award winners were Dr. Richard G. Gieser, '63, and Dr. Walter B. Hull, '63, who do medical mission work abroad. Dr. Lawrence Chan, and Dr. Joseph Jankovic, both of whom were residents at BCM, were recognized as Distinguished Faculty. Distinguished Alumni awards this year went to Dr. James R. Walker, Dr. John R. Kelsey, '45, Dr. C. Wayne Bardin, '62, Dr. Todd P. Primm, '97, and Dr. James Versalovic, '95. Alumni attending Reunion Weekend paused between symposia and tours to search for their names and those of their friends on the new Alumni Honor Wall. Established by the President's Alumni Council, the wall is located in the main hallway near the trustee board room and the Michael E. DeBakey Library & Museum. Panels detail the BCM Alumni Association's mission—to serve and engage current and future alumni for life—as well as its leadership. Donors with lifetime giving amounting to $100,000 or more are listed individually, as are alumni who are members of the Jaworski Society, having remembered the college in their estate and financial plans. Class scholarships with endowments of more than $100,000 also have a place on the Alumni Honor Wall, which is designed to be updated easily. |
