Dr. Mark Kline Selected Chair of Pediatrics
Kline has a long history with Baylor. He graduated with honors from the medical school in 1981 and completed his pediatrics residency training at Baylor and Texas Children's Hospital in 1984. He served as the chief resident in pediatrics, mentored by the late Dr. Ralph Feigin, and was a postdoctoral fellow in pediatric infectious diseases. He was on faculty at St. Louis University School of Medicine for two years, and then returned to Baylor in 1990. Since that time, he has served as an infectious diseases specialist and built the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative, which he founded in 1996. His work with children with HIV/AIDS is recognized internationally. Kline will continue to serve as president of BIPAI, which has clinical care and training centers in Romania and throughout Africa. Kline named three vice chairs for the BCM pediatrics department: Dr. Gordon Schutze, educational affairs; Dr. Susan Blaney, research; and Dr. Sheldon Kaplan, clinical affairs. |
