Partnership Gala To Fund DeBakey Heart Center® of Baylor College of Medicine

This year's fundraising efforts of The Partnership will support cardiovascular programs at The DeBakey Heart Center of Baylor College of Medicine, strengthening patient care and research at the Baylor Clinic and raising the College's overall stature in the field of cardiovascular care.

Partnership events will culminate with "The Concert that Never Was," a gala to be held Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Hotel ZaZa. Entertainment will feature tribute artists Sharon Owens and Sebastian Anzaldo as music idols Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra.

This year's gala also will celebrate longtime BCM partner Margaret Alkek Williams, a member of the Texas Philanthropy Hall of Fame.

Money raised will be used to advance cardiovascular research and patient care programs under the direction of Christie Ballantyne, M.D., interim chief of the section of cardiology and chief of the section of cardiovascular research in the department of medicine at BCM.

The Smith Foundation will match all funds raised by the gala, leveraging gifts to the revolutionary collaborative research on heart disease that is taking place at The DeBakey Heart Center and the Human Genome Sequencing Center of Baylor College of Medicine.
