The BCM Graduate Student Council held it's fourth annual Art Show in the lobbies of the DeBakey and Alkek buildings for one week in August. Brandy Heckman, a graduate student in the Rosen lab, was co-director of the Art Show. This year the BCM Art Show benefitted the Arts in Medicine Program (AIM) at Texas Children's Hospital. The Art Show included a display and auction of Art from the Baylor College of Medicine students, faculty, and staff as it has in the past. Thirty percent of the profits from the auctions were donated to the AIM program. Some artists were gracious enough to donate the full proceeds of their work to AIM. The Art Show also included a small display of Art from the AIM Program, a Donation box to collect monetary contributions to go directly to the AIM Program, and a collection of art supplies to be given to the AIM Program.
Arts In Medicine
The primary goal of the Arts in Medicine (AIM) program is to provide enjoyable, educational and meaningful artisitic opportunities to patients and their families. AIM provides art opportunities in a variety of settings including outpatient and inpatient care areas. Making a Mark is a component of AIM providing art exhibitions of the artwork done by children who have been touched by cancer or related blood disorders. Click HERE to find out more.
