How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?
Removal depends on numerous factors, such as type of ink used, color of ink, depth of ink, age of tattoo, location of tattoo on the body as well as many other factors. The general rule of thumb is four to eight treatments over the course of one year. Additional treatments may be necessary for green pigments as well as pastel colors. The two easiest colors to remove are black and red.
How much does each treatment cost?
A 10-minute session, which is sufficient for most tattoos, cost $400. Larger tattoos or multiple tattoos cost an additional $10 per minute for any lasing time over 10 minutes.
What is the likelihood of having a complication such as scarring or pigmentation change?
There are risks with any laser procedure, however with proper post-care, complications are rare.
How does tattoo removal work?
The laser emits a quick pulsating beam of light, which passes harmlessly through the skin. Upon contact with the ink, the laser explodes the large ink particle, which results in a chemical reaction seen as 'laser frost.' Over the course of the next few weeks, your body's lymphatic system begins to carry away these smaller ink particles.
Is tattoo removal painless?
No. Most patients describe tattoo removal as moderately painful, however, very few report that the pain is greater than getting the tattoo. Your case provider may choose to inject a local anesthetic or provide a topical numbing cream before your treatment.
