Samuel Stal, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board certified plastic surgeon and professor and chief of surgery in the plastic surgery division of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He specializes in and limits his practice to surgery of the nose (rhinoplasty) and pediatric plastic surgery, specifically unique cleft lip/nose and cleft palate procedures to help children with facial and birth defects.
With over 20 years of surgical experience and thousands of documented cases, Dr. Stal finds the greatest reward of his medical career is improving the self-image and self-esteem of his patients, especially the younger ones, thereby helping them build strong futures. He is committed to detailed pre-operative planning, including the use of digital imaging, to screen and educate patients and determine the best possible procedure for each case.
Dr. Stal's leading surgical techniques, innovative practices, and proven results have earned him frequent recognition, including being named among America’s Best Plastic Surgeons, The Best Doctors in America: Plastic Surgery Central Region, and Houston's Top Doctors.
After earning his medical degree from the Loyola University School of Medicine, Dr. Stal completed his general surgery and otolaryngology residencies at the University of Illinois, and his plastic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He also obtained additional training in craniofacial surgery at Enfant Malade Hospital and Clinique Belvedere in Paris.
Dr. Stal's professional memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Surgeons (Fellow), International Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, American Cleft Palate Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head Neck Surgery (Fellow), American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a founding member and former president of the Rhinoplasty Society, an elite group of surgeons specializing in rhinoplasty.
Dr. Stal is well published in medical journals and books, and a frequently invited speaker for panels and presentations on topics such as cleft palate, nasal surgery, and plastic surgery procedures and techniques. He is a founding member of the famed Dallas Rhinoplasty Course, one of the premier teaching courses of its kind in the world.
