Contact Dr. Larry H. Hollier Jr.

Larry H. Hollier Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified plastic surgeon and a professor in the plastic surgery division of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). He is also program director for the plastic surgery residency program at BCM, and chief of plastic surgery at Ben Taub Memorial Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center for the city of Houston.

Dr. Hollier's specialty is plastic and reconstructive surgery, including pediatric hand surgery, facial fractures, cranial vault remodeling, midfacial distraction and mandibular distraction.

Dr. Hollier earned his medical degree from Tulane University. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at Parkland Memorial Hospital, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He held fellowships in hand and microvascular surgery at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and in craniofacial surgery at New York University Medical Center.

Dr. Hollier has authored more than 70 articles for scholarly and professional publications, written 24 book chapters, and made dozens of presentations to professional audiences worldwide on a full range of topics related to plastic and reconstructive surgery.

He has been recognized for performing innovative jaw surgeries known as &dquo;facial distractions&dquo; to help children with facial deformities, a procedure that involves surgically inserting a device to help the child's jaw bone grow into the desired shape. Dr. Hollier trained under Dr. Joseph McCarthy, the first surgeon in the United States to perform a facial distraction.

Since 1996, he has participated in numerous surgical trips to the Dominican Republic and Vietnam for treatment of craniofacial and hand deformities.

Dr. Hollier is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.). His professional memberships also include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Cleft Palate Association, American Society of Maxillofacial Surgery, AO North America – Craniomaxillofacial Section, Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, International Society of Craniofacial Surgery, and the American Medical Association. He is on the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals, including the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, the Journal of Trauma, and Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery. He serves as editor-in-chief of Seminars in Plastic Surgery.
