Application Information & Requirements

Applicants must hold no less than a bachelor's degree and are admitted by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences of Baylor College of Medicine after approval by the Graduate Education Committee of the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics.

Successful applicants are selected on the basis of their:

  • Undergraduate academic records
  • Scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
  • Letters of recommendation
  • An interview
  • Scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for foreign applicants

Undergraduate academic records must be complete and presented as one or more transcripts. Applicants must take the GRE within three years of application. The GRE General Test measuring analytical writing, verbal, and quantitative skills is required. A GRE Subject Test in biology, chemistry, physics, or biochemistry is recommended.

At least three letters of recommendation from undergraduate faculty members or research sponsors should be submitted. If the applicant has had professional or graduate training, a letter from a faculty member of the professional or graduate institution attended is also required.

An interview with the Graduate Education Committee is required.
