  Oxymax

Facility - Columbus Instruments VO2 /VCO2 Oxymax System

System is used to simultaneously measure metabolic performance of 4 mice in the chambers or 2 mice in the metabolic treadmill for measuring metabolic performance while exercising.

  • Oxymax Deluxe System indirect calorimeter equal flow four chamber system
  • Modular Enclosed 2 lane Treadmill
  • Oxymax Windows V3.32 Software

Measurements include:

  • VO 2 = oxygen consumption
  • CO 2 = carbon dioxide production
  • RER = respiratory exchange ratio
  • Heat = calculated value of the CV (caloric value) x VO 2

These measurements allow the ability to obtain

  • metabolic rate
  • substrate (fat or carbohydrate) used to generate energy

During exercise:

  • measurement of exercise intensity
  • oxygen uptake
